# Open review files in Zed

> Open the current local Plannotator review file in Zed or Zed Preview.

Plannotator can open the current local file in Zed from plan review, document annotation, and code review.

## Use it

1. Open a local Plannotator review.
2. Open the **Open in...** menu on the document or code file.
3. Choose **Zed**, or choose **Zed Preview** on macOS to open the document in the preview build.

Plannotator lists Zed only when it detects an installed application or executable. On macOS, **Zed Preview** appears as a separate choice when that app bundle is installed. Linux and Windows use the regular `zed` executable for preview builds too, so they use the existing Zed entry.

## Availability

Opening a file in Zed requires a local source path and is unavailable in remote sessions. It is also unavailable for a pull-request review without a local checkout, a deleted file, or a committed GitButler Stack or Branch view whose displayed content does not match the live workspace.
